massa takemoto: Velvet & Sepia (single)

massa takemoto – Velvet & Sepia (single)

It’s been a while since we last heard from massa takemoto. Hard to believe that the celebrated album „Platinum Wunderland“ of this band Echolocation was released five years ago! From recent times you may remember „Seasons“, a sunny set of three jazz-lounge tracks featuring the amazing Scottish vocalist Jean Honeymoon (2015).

So… peacelounge is happy and proud to announce Takemoto’s return to the electronic music scene with „Velvet & Sepia“, a two track single resonant with nocturnal electro jazz vibes both downtempo („Velvet“) and upbeat („Sepia“) due out on Nov 3rd. His artful, often dreamlike arrangements combine soft strings, minimalistic keyboard accents, melancholic melodies and rolling basslines. Speaking of bass: For those not familiar with massa’s biography: He started out as a bass player, before he devoted himself to extensive studio work and the composition of film soundtracks. Indeed, „Crushed Velvet and a Half-Finished Martini“ sounds like it was made for a spy movie, whereas „Sepia“ (a non-album track) deserves to be appreciated for its highly infectious rhythm alone. It’s great to have him back on peacelounge, and please DO watch this space for his upcoming solo album The Moments Captured.
